After the Rain

Love your enemies? See how Leah McPhillen reacts to tragedy and romance.

We cooked out today. My husband is a wonderful grill chef, and I make a mean potato salad if I do say so myself. We probably wouldn’t have cooked out if it hadn’t rained all week. Isn’t it funny how we don’t appreciate the sunshine until we’re deluged in rain? Every day my daughters get closer to leaving the nest, and I can feel the clock ticking. I don’t want to waste one moment sitting inside the house when we can be doing something better. I do waste time, but I wish I didn’t .

Nobody asks for the rain to wash away their plans. But, oh, isn’t it nice to see the sun when it’s over. Sometimes a double rainbow as well.
