Summer, Songs & Disappointment

I usually wake up with music in my head. It’s usually a popular Christian Contemporary song or a favorite hymn, but sometimes it’s “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns & Roses.

Did I mention that I teach middle school? I teach the kids that don’t like English, and I’m not only a lover of books, but of writing, new words, and languages. I’m a nerd through and through. My students are too cool, and most of them will be in the NFL or NBA some day and do NOT need any help with their written work, thank you. Our school year is almost over, and it has been very challenging. We have a new philosophy on discipline and that’s all I’m going to say about that. I need my job.

My personal life has been challenging too. In fact, 2016 has really stunk. I have lost friends to death, to addiction, and some of them are very ill. But my hope is not in this world. My God has a plan for all of this. So even if the song in my heart disappears for a little while, or is replaced with a song that is discouraging, I know that it’ll be back.
