I’m so quick to come to the Father when something goes wrong, but not so much when life is going well. If I went without a meal, I would definitely pray longer than when I do to thank God for all the delicious food He has provided for me. I know that there are people who will be happy to eat a handful of rice today or something that they’ve scavenged from the trash and here I am saying a quick ‘thank you’ before I dig into something nutritious and easily obtained. I have never watched my children go hungry or watched them helplessly as they were abused by my government or church leaders.
Yesterday, I bit into a piece of watermelon that was so sweet and juicy. The air was warm, but there was a slight breeze and I was safe on my porch in a country where I can do anything I want if I’m willing to put in the work. Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful country You have placed me in. Thanks for the blessings that surround me, and that I can see them, hear them and touch them. I am free to praise God and worship Him whenever I choose. Jesus paid the full price for my sins, so I’m even free from my own failings. If I get hot, I have air conditioning. If I’m lonely, I pick up my phone. If I feel creative, I pick up my laptop and start writing. What do I have to complain about? I am so blessed. Praise the Lord seems so small when my blessings are so huge.
